Attempted jailbreak in Abuja this morning: DSS releases statement

The Spokesperson for the Department of State Security Service, Marilyn
Ogar, has issued a statement on the attempted jailbreak at the
headquarters of the Nigeria’s secret
police. Find it below..

At 0715 hours, the Service suspect handler went to the detention
facility within the Headquarters to feed the suspects. One of the
suspects attempted to disarm him by hitting him at the back of his head
with his handcuff. His attempt to escape drew the attention of other
guards at the facility who fired some shots to warn and deter others.
The
gun shots attracted the attention of the military with whom we have an
understanding of mutual assistance in the event of any threat. The Army
immediately deployed a team to reinforce our perimeter guards to
forestall any external collaborators.
The situation has since been brought under control.

Humility.

Humility is Submission to the Word. Humility is a quality of the recreated human spirit that attracts divine favour and promotion. It’s an inner ability which enables you respond with absolute submissiveness to the Lordship of Jesus Christ through the Word of God. It is often expressed in action by the willingness to take responsibility of service to others, in loyalty to the Word. The Lord Jesus showed us the perfect example of true humility in His demonstration of total submissiveness to the will of God. Hebrews 10:7 says “Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy will, O God.” The Bible shows that though He was equal with God, He made Himself of no reputation but took the form of a servant and became obedient unto death. For this reason, God exalted Him and gave Him a Name which is above every name. Philippians 2:6-9 “6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: 7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: 8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. 9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:” As Christians, we are enjoined by the Word to humble ourselves under the mighty hand of God that we might be exalted in due time (1 Peter 5:6). You are to emulate Christ’s humility in being submissive to the Word, so you’ve got to know it, and let it guide your thoughts, words, and all you do. And just as Jesus was exalted for doing the Father’s will, you too will experience promotion from glory to glory.

Praise leads to Victory!!!

In 2 Chronicles 20, we read the inspiring account of how the children of Judah were surrounded and outnumbered by three enemy nations. Then the King of Judah, Jehoshaphat, proclaimed a fast throughout the land, and while they prayed and fasted, the Spirit of the Lord came upon Jahaziel the Levite and he spoke forth the mind of God: “And he said, Hearken ye, all Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem, and thou king Jehoshaphat, Thus saith the LORD unto you, Be not afraid nor dismayed by reason of this great multitude; for the battle is not yours, but God’s.” (2 Chronicles 20:15) With those words of prophecy burning in his spirit, King Jehoshaphat consulted with the people and appointed singers unto the Lord, to march ahead of the troops, singing, “…Praise the Lord; for His mercy endureth for ever” (2 Chronicles 20:21). As they sang and praised God, the power of God was activated, and their enemies were discomfited! Their praise led them to victory! The fervency and vibrancy of their praise caused the angels of God to go into action and cause pandemonium in the enemy’s camp. The enemy soldiers turned their swords on each other, killing one another. By the time God’s people got to the scene all the enemies were dead! (2 Chronicles 20:22-24) You discomfit the enemy and activate the power of God when you praise God from your spirit fervently and passionately, irrespective and independent of circumstances! Paul and Silas experienced this when they were imprisoned for doing the Lord’s will. Rather than gripe, complain or despair, they stirred the power of God’s Spirit through praise and were gloriously delivered. (Acts 16:25-26) Always put this to work in your life; learn to praise God irrespective of the seemingly hopeless situation you may be facing. As you offer words of praise from your spirit and extol His majesty, you’re establishing your victory. So, in spite of that challenge or difficulty, shout His praise; and your victory will be sure.

A Stress-free Life.

The Christian life is a life devoid of struggles! The reason some Christians struggle and are weighed down by the cares of this world is that they haven’t fully grasped the message of the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. It's important to realize that Jesus completely finished the work of redemption; opening to us the door to a life without stress and worry. So He invited everyone, “If you are tired from carrying heavy burdens, come to me and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28 CEV) Peter walked on water to meet Jesus because he had faith in the Master’s Words. The moment he took his eyes off Jesus, he saw the boisterous winds and raging waves and he began to sink. His struggle to keep afloat was to no avail, and he began to drown despite his efforts. But when he cried out to Jesus for help, the Master pulled him afloat. Are you struggling in your life right now? Maybe you’re facing financial challenges. Stop struggling! Jesus said “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28); find out what the Master has done about your situation. 2 Corinthians 8:9 says “For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich.” You are not the poor trying to get rich, you’re the rich coming to the knowledge of your inheritance! Refuse to drown in poverty or sickness, fix your gaze on Jesus and continually work from a position of rest. Hebrews 4:10 says, “For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his.” Praise God!

Update on Ibadan House of Horror: victims recount how they were kidnapped Some victims rescued from the house of horror in the Soka area of Ibadan in Oyo, who have started gradually regaining their sanity, have recounted how they found themselves at the kidnappers den. Speaking with a Punch reporter, one of the victims, Nafiu Shittu, said he was a busy selling his locally made pile medicine when he was kidnapped and brought into the forest 4 months ago. "I am a native of Ibadan, living in the Foko area of the city. I sold pile medicine to people. I was doing the business on the day I was kidnapped about four months ago. After going round the area where I had customers, I felt tired and decided to rest in the Gate area. Suddenly, a bus stopped by my side and two men came out and forced me into the back seat of the vehicle. That was all I could remember. When I regained consciousness, I saw myself in a room in the forest, chained to a wall. I was too tired to struggle and as the days passed, I became frail because I was not given anything to eat." Nafiu who stressed that he was not a mad man and so was not taken to the horror house for treatment, said he saw dead bodies in the place but couldn't confirm if they were killed there or not. WHAT CAN YOU SEE

And the LORD said unto Abram, after that Lot was separated from him, Lift up now thine eyes, and look from the place where thou art northward, and southward, and eastward, and westward: For all the land which thou seest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed forever (Genesis 13:14-15). When the Lord told Abraham to lift up his eyes and look, in the scripture above, He wasn't referring to the man's physical eyes, but to the eyes of his spirit. God told him all the land he could "see" was his; it was now up to Abraham to decide how far he wanted to see. Being a man of faith, he looked from his spirit and saw the whole world. The Bible says "For the promise, that he should be the heir of the world, was not to Abraham, or to his seed, through the law, but through the righteousness of faith" (Romans 4:13). Abraham became the heir of the whole world by faith. Now, that's not the end of the story. The Bible says "So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham" (Galatians 3:9). You're as much the heir of the whole world as Abraham: "And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise" (Galatians 3:29). No wonder the Bible declares that God has given you everything you require for life and godliness (2 Peter 1:3). However, it's that which you've taken possession of by faith, that which your spirit has embraced, that you can enjoy. So it's up to you! As far as your eyes can see, that's "what the Lord has given to you for an inheritance. As you fast and pray about the coming year, see yourself making unprecedented progress in every area of your life. See God taking you from glory to glory. Perhaps you've been praying and asking the Lord for a child, see that child with your spirit first. Whatever you've taken possession of from within, will certainly manifest in the physical. Start practising how to see from your spirit, for your spirit is where the light of God is. God doesn't function in the realm of the mind or senses. If you're going to enjoy all the wonderful benefits of salvation God has in store for you, then you've got to see with the eyes of faith and speak forth what you see.

PRESSING ON TOWARDS GOD'S BEST

Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before (Philippians 3:13). The Apostle Paul got a hold of a revelation which was so precious to him, and he summed it up in the opening verse. The words “this” and “I do” in the King James are italicized, showing that they weren’t in the original manuscript. So, what Paul was actually saying was “I count not myself to "have apprehended but one thing: forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before “. He had learnt to forget the past and look forward. He had learnt to forget his old life as a Jew; he had learnt to look at the pictures of his new life in Christ. This was what kept Paul so far ahead of others. We must learn to forget the past and look ahead. I believe that it’s been a great year for you so far, and I want to remind you of these precious words. It’s time to shake off thoughts of the past and look at the pictures God is showing you through His Word! Forget about the past defeats you may have suffered, probably even this year. Reach forth and grab a hold of the pictures God’s Word has given you. He has declared you more than a conqueror (Romans 8:37), and says whatever you do will prosper (Psalm 1:3). There’s still time to accomplish supernatural things this year, if only you can catch this truth today!
